Advertisement Ideas: How Recognizable Are You
Look at the photos and see if you recognize these people. Einstein, Hendrix, Gates, Ali all built their personal brand and became very recognizable. If someone put your picture up or your brand up would you be recognizable in the market place. If someone went out and asked 25 people if they knew who you were would 15-18 say they heard of you. If you attend a networking event how many people know who you are and what you do? The question now becomes how do I become recognizable. There are many advertisement ideas such as:
1: Aggressively market with a solid logo and a memorable. For example when I think of Winn-Dixie I think The Beef People as that is how they differentiated themselves in the 70’s. Now they promote themselves as getting better all the time. When I think of Publix I think Where Shopping Is A Pleasure. What are people thinking when they hear your name?
2: Make the customer experience one that will be bragged about. When I go to Starbucks I am always pleased to hear Hello JDOGG your usual. there was one day I walked into Starbucks and by the time I reached the counter my drink was ready. I asked what if I wanted something different the barista answered I would have made what you wanted and given you this at no charge. There was another time they forgot to make my drink and after a while I asked about it and they made my drink and the manager without me asking gave me a coupon for a complimentary drink the next time I visited Starbucks. What is your level of customer service?
3: Get involved in community activities – I have often stated that you can become well-known in the community simply by aligning yourself with community groups and projects. The Hungry Howie’s in Plantation, FL is very civicly minded and as a result is building a great reputation while also building revenue for the store. When I am out in the community I always talk up Hungry Howie’s and people who hadn’t ordered from them before will order and give it a try. I do this because a few years ago when I approached them about sponsoring a pizza lap for The American Cancer Society they said yes and donated 10 large pizzas, which has led to more business.
There is a Wings Place, Wings PLus in Coral Springs wh sponsors many of the youth sports teams, the holiday parade, and many of the local community events. Anytime a charitable group needs help and they ask they are quick to help as a result they have become a very successful restaurant.
4: Be creative with marketing and promotional material – Think of ways you can be creative like giving out a CD that not only has music but has information about your industry. Make a small book that you can give out to promote yourself and your business. Always have something of value to give to people you meet. One of my favorite promotions that I saw was a local chiropractor gave out his card with a lifesaver attached to it along with a copy of a book he had written during a local trade show. That evening he gave out 25 copies of his book and booked 18 appointments of which 7 turned into patients.
When you are marketing yourself and looking to become recognizable in your field it is important to use all avenues possible. I often ask do you have a YOU TUBE CHANNEL? I am asked why? My answer because if leveraged correctly you can position yourself as an expert in your respective field. For example you are at an event and you see something that you can capitalize on to promote yourself in a video if you record it upload it to your you tube channel, annotate it with a link to your web site, and use the key words properly people will see it.
