Advertisement Ideas: 10 Ways to Drive People to Your Business
I am often asked by people I work with doing promotions and media relations, JDOGG How can I drive more people to my business? I usually answer by being creative and proactive in all your marketing. Look at the photos and you will notice that the website is prominently displayed as well as the location logo. Many times using a good-looking man or woman to promote your product works and drives business and increases sales. The following ways will help you drive people to do business with you.
10: Host a Charity Drive at Your Location– Skyline Chili in Sunrise, FL does many fundraisers for several causes and as a result gets publicity and also sees a peek in their business. This was on their website for an event done in April:
HOURS OF 10 am – 8 pm Located between Sunset Strip and Oakland Park, across from Home Depot.
LOCATION2834 North University Drive Sunrise, FL 33322 phone: (954)741-3929 |
I had the opportunity to host several fundraisers at Skyline Chili and I thank Tony and Jenny for all they did as they helped to raise Nearly $5,000 for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Sunrise, FL. As a result I now mention them whenever I can to recommend people eat there. Think about it what could one good relationship with a charity do for your business.
9: Become a Partner in Education – If your target audience is kids and parents you can become a partner in education for your local schools and support them in a variety of ways by speaking at career day, being a chaperone on field trips, or a classroom volunteer. When you do these activities take photos and write a story and send it to the media. People will see what you are doing and will start to patronize your business as they will see that you are supporting the local schools.
8: Sponsor Youth Sports Teams – By becoming a sponsor of the local youth sports teams you generally receive your name on their uniforms, banners hung at the games, mentions by the public address announcer, a plaque to display in your business and a chance to attend functions. This is a great way to drive business as the community likes to support those who support them.
7: Hire a Sign Holder – Find someone to stand by the road with a sign pointing to your business so as to attract more business. I recently spoke to Ray The Barber from a Perfect Cut and Color in Tamarac and he said that each time he either holds the sign himself or he has some one hold the sign he attracts business. I had the opportunity to help Mobile Mike at an event and I became the sign holder in the 30 minutes I held the sign about 10 cars turned in parked and checked out the event.
6: Have Vehicles Wrapped or Place some Type of Signage on Them– Buy having a vehicle on the road with your company on it will give you more name recognition and put you on the top of the mind of the consumer.
5: Form Strategic Partnerships with other businesses – think of ways that you can partner with other businesses so that you can work together and thus share customers. For example you own the Pizza Restaurant down the block from the movie theater and you approach the movie theater to box top ( putting their fliers on your boxes) and in return they will print an offer from you on their ticket stubs that the customer keeps. The possibilities are endless let’s say you are a personal trainer and your studio is in the same plaza as a Weight Watchers and you offer every client at Weight Watchers a free 30 minute session and in turn Weight Watchers includes you on some local promotional material.
4: Use Your Business Cards Wisely- When you make up your business cards use both sides with a call to action on one side like a bring this in and receive $10 off any purchase of $35 or more. Always carry your cards with you so you can be prepared to hand them out.

3: Host Themed Events at Your Location – If you check on the calendar you will see many special days for example National Donut Day
you could place an ad that states celebrate National Donut Day. Make a $5 purchase and receive a free donut. Each Month You could do something that represents the month. For example in February you can do a President’s Day Theme or a Valentine’s Day Theme.
You could have a card made up saying Happy Valentine’s Day this card entitles you to 10 % off of your next purchase.

2: Create Informational Materials That Make Sense For Your Business – For example you own a Men’s Clothing Store you can make a How to Tie a Tie Video showing all the different ways to tie a tie and giving those out when a young man buys a tie. You are a life coach you can make an audio of affirmations or other tools to help your clients. The more creative you are the more business you will drive.
Mande White has produced this helpful informational dvd that will help you to drive traffic to your website.
1: Write and Send Weekly Media Releases – Every week there is something newsworthy happening in your business. Think for a moment what happened this week and write a story about it and send it to your electronic and print media outlets and post on all your social media sites. It can be something like a new item, a new service, an employee achievement, the businesses involvement in community events. There is always something of interest that you can publicize.
BONUS TIP: Get Yourself Booked on Radio and TV Shows – Everyone has a story and every story can be relevant, entertaining, and resonating. TV and Radio are great venues and when you call up and introduce yourself and you have a compelling story about who you are and what you do you will get picked up. You can do search for local TV shows and find the producers and call them same with radio. There are many Internet radio programs seeking guest. One TV or Radio Appearance can help drive business.
