As I read the news of store closings in the retail marketplace I started to ponder is brick and mortar retail dead. Working in retail on and off for nearly 40 years I have seen a steady decline in the brick and mortar retail arena. Much of the decline can be attributed to the change in the buying behavior of consumers and the decline of customer service being given to the shoppers when they shop in a store.

I have personally always believed in delivering great service, great products, and great prices. Many times a company grows to quick and too fast in an effort to saturate the market place and as result they have more expenses than revenue thus creating a deficit and a decline in the value and perception of their company. Many times companies hire people at a low wage and do not train them properly thus creating a bad feeling among shoppers when they come to the store and feel they weren’t given great service. Many times companies promote people to positions that the people they promote have no business having.
