This entry was prompted by an interaction I had with someone as I offered to put promotional materials into 25 Swag Bags that I will be giving out during my presentation at The How To Sell Your Genius Tap Into You Seminar on Friday, August 29, at Broward College in Fort Lauderdale. The woman has an herbal and essential oil business who the last time I spoke to her told me how slow business was. Those of you who read this blog on a regular basis know that I believe there is no reason for a business to be slow and thus when people tell me how slow their business is I always look for ways to change that perception. I offered to put her cards and a small sample bottle into The Swag Bags she wrote me back that she was involved in many expos where she had to give gifts and would be passing on my offer. I thought okay her loss because of the 25 people who will receive The Swag Bags 2-3 may have wanted to purchase her oils and herbal supplements if they knew about her. Advertisement Ideas: Video Killed The Radio Star!!!
As I was sitting down to write today’s blog entry I thought of a new buzz word that I heard this week, Digital Footprint. It was at this moment that the song from The Buggles, Video Killed The Radio Star popped into my head. As I listened to the song I began to think of the transition advertising has made over the last few years. People used to look for information in the print media and now the majority of the consumers that may be looking for your products or services are seeking the information via the internet. Radio used to produce great results for musicians now it is video and internet streaming. In today’s market if you do not have videos in your marketing arsenal you will be like the radio star mentioned in this song.
On August 1, 1981 MTV launched and revolutionized the way music was presented to the world. MTV is definitely leaving a digital imprint on the world as they now celebrate 33 years on the air. MTV took the lead and over the years others have followed suite such as VH1, and The Country Music Channel. Being a pioneer in your field and leaving a digital important are two important components that will lead to success in your business. The old adage if you are not growing you are dying comes to mind when understanding the importance that video plays in your marketing mix. Advertisement Ideas: How To Maximize Your Message!!!
In order to maximize your message you must be committed to putting in a maximum effort in your marketing, media relations, and public relations. To get the process started ask yourself what is your message? Then ask yourself who do you want to hear your message? Then ask yourself how can I truly maximize my message and reach the audience that will purchase my products or services? One key idea to remember is that facts tell but stories sell. How and where are you telling your story.

For those that have followed this blog over time you know that I am very involved in The American Cancer Society Relay For Life. I have a web page at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg1 where people can make donations. My message is that I am honoring my mother, Judith Miller’s, memory as she was called home to GOD on July 5, 2012. I am doing this to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. I am using this as a case study as I have raised over $15,000 in the 10 years that I have been a participant. I also have a unique advantage over everyone else in the fact that I am the emcee for the event, which provides me with a great platform to promote myself and secure paying gigs. As of this writing I have raised $898 so far for The 2014 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton. The model that I am using to maximize my message is proving to be highly effective.
In all my interactions in obtaining monetary and in-kind donations I have incorporated the idea of celebrating, remembering, and fighting back while creating a world with less cancer. By being consistent with the message I have been able to obtain donations and also share the work that The American Cancer Society does. I have been able to create a buzz and create brand awareness and recognition by sending media releases out on a consistent basis. As a Result on 11/10/2013 The Sun-Sentinel ran an article about The POINTS FOR THE CURE FUNDRAISER for Relay For Life. The program is simple you choose your favorite NCAA Football Team or NFL TEAM and after their game you visit http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg1 and donate $.25 per point they scored. Advertisement Ideas: Don’t Get Tricked Up With Your Marketing!!!!!
Today’s entry was inspired by the fact that it is Halloween where many will be trick or treating. Just like those trick or treating who hope to secure many great treats and very few tricks your marketing campaign should garner more buyers than browsers. I am always surprised by the amount of business owners or marketing executives that are getting tricked up by their lack of marketing savvy. The latest example of someone getting tricked up by their lack of marketing was The Area Director of a South Florida Arby’s as I had called him on several occasions and emailed him to talk to him about helping a Pop Warner Football Team that I am the public address announcer for. My thought was that Arby’s has a store within 3 miles from where the team plays and with me announcing 5 games on a Saturday and each game being attended by about 100 people each it would be a great place for Arby’s to promote and create traffic to their location. Think about the brand recognition and the increased revenue they could have had not only on a Saturday but also during the week as the parents and the kids would now know that there is an Arby’s in the community. Think of the possibilities that Arby’s could have had. The reason the man was tricked up by his lack of marketing is he never returned calls or emails. This really intrigued me as I have found that many people do not return phone calls and emails and as a result are getting tricked up by their lack of marketing. As a result of being tricked up they are missing out on a chance to interact with someone who could be of great service and value to them. In today’s marketing place one raving fan can help to increase your brand and increase your revenue. Creating raving fans begins with personal interaction and then can be harnessed with social media interaction. By not engaging your audience or potential audience you are getting tricked up by your marketing.
Tools To Avoid Getting Tricked Up By Your Marketing!!!!!!
As mentioned the best tool is the phone as returning phone calls can lead to a relationship that can benefit your business. I use me as an example as I have many platforms to help advocate for a business such as my Internet TV Show, The Anything Bucket, which airs on www.wrpbitv.com on Wednesday at 8:00 PM EST, an Internet Radio Show, Get Motivated With Jonathan JDOGG Lederman, which airs at www.blogtalkradio.com/hrafnstongradio at 7:00 PM EST on Monday, another blog at www.the-spiritualawakening.com, and many social media accounts with many followers. You couple this with all the teams and special events that I am the announcer for and it makes sense to connect with me to help create a buzz about your products and services. Advertisement Ideas; Are You Playing At Business Or Doing Business??
I ask this question today as I have realized that there are talkers and there are doers when it comes to business. I recently had a life coach who was teaching marketing skills to his clients in the wrpbitv studios for an interview for my Internet TV Show, the Anything Bucket, which airs on Wednesday Night at 8:00 PM EDT at www.wrpbitv.com. I offered the opportunity for him to purchase a fully edited clip with his contact information for $100 and he said he couldn’t afford to do it at this time. I chalked this up to another chump professing to know marketing and fooling those who believe his shtick. If someone is supposed to be teaching marketing and doesn’t market themselves how good can they truly be? I asked the man are you playing at business or are you serious about doing business? He proceeded to make every excuse why he wasn’t going to buy the clip. It was at that point that I determined that I am only going to seek qualified people who are serious about maximizing their message and who understand the value of having a clip and realize that when you spend money you make money. If you are under capitalized think of a way to find capital and then invest it wisely.
It is all about The Benjamins as with more money you can do more things like give back to the community and thus build your brand by gaining a reputation for being a civic advocate. Each year I seek donations for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton and I support those who donate products, services. and money to the cause. If you are serious about doing business you should visit http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg1 and make a donation or call 954-254-8227 to donate a product or service. The publicity you receive from this type of support will strengthen your brand and in the long run help you to create additional revenue. I have been doing marketing and media relations for over 30 years and have lived by the concept of put out or get out. This concept simply means either you put yourself out there and promote who you are and what you do or you simply get out of your business. Too many people go into business today with out and idea of how they will market themselves and how they will advertise and garner interest in their business. I was at Starbucks today and overheard a gentleman trying to sell his services to a potential client and he had no marketing materials all he kept doing was talking and talking and telling of all he did. he kept telling stories of his successes however had no testimonials or anything to give to the potential client. The first thing you should have when putting yourself out there is a brochure to give to potential clients or at least a business card that capsulesizes who you are and what you do.
I have written about the three-foot rule in this blog before. It is simple if someone is within 3 feet of you talk to them as you never know where the interaction may lead. Today I overheard a group of people speaking at Starbucks about empowerment. As I walked by them I stopped and said sorry to interrupt but I heard you speaking bout empowerment and wanted to give you my business card, I am Jonathan JDOGG Lederman and I am known as the positive broadcaster, If I can be of help to you in getting your word out please connect with me. By having my business card I was able to make a connection and now it is up to the universe to see what happens. Continue reading Advertisement Ideas:Put Out Or Get Out!!!!

Recognize these 4 men? They are Anthony Robbins, Les Brown, Deepak Chopra, and Dr. Wayne Dyer. They all share one thing in common and that is they are personal development speakers often referred to as motivational speakers. In the following entry Jeff Zelaya explores the anatomy of a Motivational Speaker.
Everything about a Motivational Speaker
by Jeff Zelaya- Guest Blogger
There are several individuals who think that there is no difference between motivational and inspirational speakers. These types of speaker might be the same and different from each other in various ways. Before, a motivational speaker is known as the one who is just speaking in front of people professionally. But, there are many professionals all over the world who said that a motivational speaker is more than just a professional who speaks in front of people. They motivate their audiences to do or believe in something or someone. This type of speaker is a professional speaker, trainer or facilitator. They are the ones who speak to their audiences and usually do it for a fee. Continue reading Advertisement Ideas: Jeff Zelaya Shares Tips On Maximizing Your Message
Advertisement Ideas Finding and Capitalizing On PR Opportunities!!!
I have posted this question before as I ask it on several occassions as I speak to people who may want to work with me and put my knowledge and expertise in this field to work for them. I have been developing ways to maximize messages for several years and I am always astounded by those who are not taking advantage of Public Relations Opportunities. This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend The Women of Faith Conference on Friday Night (10/26/12) in Sunrise, FL I was very impressed by World Vision and their presence at the event, I stopped by The Liberty University Booth to learn more about them. All the while I was loaded with literature about The Addict’s Mom (one of my clients) to hand out as I knew many of the 6,000 women in attendance may know a mother of an addicted child and may be seeking assistance for that person so I made it a point to talk to people and promote www.addictsmom.com.
As I left the Women of Faith Conference I began to think how many businesses missed out on an opportunity to promote themselves because they did nor know about the event or were so busy blaming the economy and other factors that they missed out on an opportunity to build their brand and strengthen their business. I then cam up with the idea to encourage everyone to visit www.womenoffaith.com and to see when one of theses events is coming to your community and how it can be a benefit to you and your business.
On October 27-28, 2012 I had the pleasure and honor of being The Public Address Announcer at The Sean Taylor Classic, The SUPER BOWL for Youth Football. As I announced the sponsors I began to think how many businesses could have benefitted from being part of this event if they had known about it. In two days over 2,000 people came through the gates to watch youth football. I had the opportunity to cut a video with the help of Generation Next and I immediately put it up on face book. As I have often said if make videos when ever you are at a special event and share them.
Advertisement Ideas: How To Find and Capitalize on PR Opportunities?
I am often asked JDOGG how do you find and capitalize on PR opportunities? Here are a few strategies that I have utilized to do just that.
1: Be aware of what is going on in your community and see if it is synergistic with your business and your message.
Look on the internet for special events in your area, talk to you customers about things they may be involved with and how you can be of assistance. Many times it is just being in tune and having a presence at events that will build your brand.
2: When you attend an event be prepared to do a quick video like this one.
3: Take photos and create a story to send to the media. For example the photo below with a brief story.
JDOGG Lederman Honors Community Leaders and Creates A World With Less Cancer And More Birthdays.
On March 24, 2012 The Unity Church Fellowship Hall was buzzing with joy as JDOGG Lederman hosted The Spiritual Entrepreneurs Visionary Awards, honoring outstanding community leaders for their service to the community. Proceeds from the event went to The Reaching Out To Cancer Kids Program of The American Cancer Society. 50 community leaders were honored and treated to a very special lunch provided by Subway and deserts provided by Chocolate Luxuries. The day consisted of fellowship and speakers on a variety of subjects. For more details about supporting events like this call JDOGG at 954-254-8227.
4: Find ways to provide products and services for events or how to capitalize on existing programs. For example The American Cancer Society has a program for Relay For Life, Stars and Moons, where merchants sell the Stars and Moons to customers/clients and the merchant displays them in their business. You can take a photo of the Stars and Moons with a caption (Insert your business name here) supports The American Cancer Society Relay For Life Program and recent raised (insert dollar amount) to help with research, education, advocacy, and services. “Our reason to participate in this program was driven by the fact that many of our customers have been touched by cancer and we felt this was an excellent way to give back while helping those affected by cancer,” said (insert name here).
5. Use your social media platforms to engage people and ask about ways you can be of service and value. Post how you are being of service and value to others.
Public Relations is not something that is done once in a while it is something that can be done everyday.
Every day you have something noteworthy happening in your business it is imperative that you share and capitalize on public relations. For example a local Dentist is opening up his practice from 8 PM – 10 PM on Halloween to x-ray candy, it is a shame that this has to be done. The dentist has been written about in several local papers, featured on the local news, and interviewed on the radio.
This chart will help you to find and capitalize on PR opportunities.

The Spice Girls Reunited for The Closing Ceremony of The 2012 Olympics held in London. As I watched I began to think how can a business truly capitalize on the closing ceremonies and then it hit me, have a contest where you would give away Olympic related items. You could secure items relating to The 2012 Summer Olympics and also secure items relating to The 2014 Winter Games to be held in Soji, Russia. You would collect name, address, phone number, and email from the entrants and every month send out information about your business with a special Olympic Related Theme. This could be the way to spice up your sales.
Imagine being able to create a spectacle that would draw the attention of millions like The Olympics did? Well you can with a bit of creativity and the right promotion. I remember an event That The Pompano Beach Jaycess hosted many years ago called The Zanny Olympics and it was covered be local radio, TV, and newspaper outlets because of the many double entendre names events and the fact that it was also for charity. The businesses that participated all benefitted greatly by gaining brand recognition which also translated into more sales. The bottom line is getting to be known in the community and to build the reputation so people want to do business with you. Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi) teaches Ralph Macchio (Daniel Son) an important life lesson about focusing. The scene that is very poignant is Miyagi says wax on wax off focus.I used to walk around my office sharing this with my fellow staff members so as to motivate them. It worked as a great strategy.

I was out in the community representing Life Publications today and realized just how many people couldn’t answer the question of who their ideal client was. I began to think if you do not know who your ideal client is then how can you stay focused and build your brand and increase your revenue. One particular business asked me what I was selling I said eventually I would like to put together an advertising program for you but first I wanted to know who your ideal client is so that I can see if my magazine would be a good fit for you. I was told I am not interested to which I replied sorry to hear that because outside of the advertising I believe I could have been of service and value to you. I continued to stay focused and use this approach as I continued to peel back the onion by asking questions of the potential advertisers that I was calling on. I was doing the sales calls cold, which is not something I recommend, however those that I have relationships with are already in the magazine working with other reps. As I finished making the sales calls I began to realize that their must be a focus on marketing so as to create top of the mind awareness with those that are in your ideal client profile.
