Advertisement Ideas; Are You Playing At Business Or Doing Business??

I ask this question today as I have  realized that there are talkers and there are doers when it comes to business. I recently had a life coach who was teaching marketing skills to his clients in the wrpbitv studios for an interview for my Internet TV Show, the Anything Bucket, which airs on Wednesday Night at 8:00 PM EDT at www.wrpbitv.com. I offered the opportunity for him to purchase a fully edited clip with his contact information for $100 and he said he couldn’t afford to do it at this time. I chalked this up to another chump professing to know marketing and fooling those who believe his shtick. If someone is supposed to be teaching marketing and doesn’t market themselves  how good can they truly be? I asked the man are you playing at business or are you serious about doing business? He proceeded to make every excuse why he wasn’t going to buy the clip. It was at that point that I determined that I am only going to seek qualified people who are serious about maximizing their message and who understand the value of having a clip and realize that when you spend money you make money. If you are under capitalized think of a way to find capital and then invest it wisely.

It is all about The Benjamins as with more money you can do more things like give back to the community and thus build your brand by gaining a reputation for being a civic advocate. Each year I seek donations for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton and I support those who donate products, services. and money to the cause. If you are serious about doing business you should visit http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg1 and make a donation or call 954-254-8227 to donate a product or service. The publicity you receive from this type of support will strengthen your brand and in the long run help you to create additional revenue. Advertisement Ideas: Put Out Or Get Out!!!

I have been doing marketing and media relations for over 30 years and have lived by the concept of put out or get out.  This concept simply means either you put yourself out there and promote who you are and what you do or you simply get out of your business. Too many people go into business today with out and idea of how they will market themselves and how they will advertise and garner interest in their business.  I was at Starbucks today and overheard a gentleman trying to sell his services to a potential client and he had no marketing materials all he kept doing was talking and talking and telling of all he did. he kept telling stories of his successes however had no testimonials or anything to give to the potential client. The first thing you should have when putting yourself out there is a brochure to give to potential clients or at least a business card that capsulesizes who you are and what you do.

I have written about the three-foot rule in this blog before. It is simple if someone is within 3 feet of you talk to them as you never know where the interaction may lead. Today I overheard a group of people speaking at Starbucks about empowerment. As I walked by them I stopped and said sorry to interrupt but I heard you speaking bout empowerment and wanted to give you my business card, I am Jonathan JDOGG Lederman and I am known as the positive broadcaster, If I can be of help to you in getting your word out please connect with me. By having my business card I was able to make a connection and now it is up to the universe to see what happens. Continue reading Advertisement Ideas:Put Out Or Get Out!!!!

Advertisement Ideas: Time To Take Action!!!!

What is on the horizon for you that will propel you to take action and maximize your message?  Have you been wanting to promote your business, however you have held back because of the perception that you can’t afford to or that the perceived risk is too great? I am here to tell you today that it is time to take action and listen to the options that are being presented to you so that you will be on the top of the mind of the consumer when they are ready to purchase your product or service. How many times have you uttered the words I am not interested only to miss out on what is a great opportunity. I run into many people who tell me I am not interested before I even explain what I am offering. The other day I was calling businesses to offer them a FREE 6 minute segment on my Internet TV Show, The Anything Bucket, which airs on www.wrpbitv.com at 8:00 PM EDT on Wednesday. I was surprised by how many people did not want to appear on the show. I heard excuses like I don’t have time to come and tape the show, I have tried internet before and it hasn’t worked, I even had one person tell me I did a show at that station and didn’t see an increase in my sales. I thought to myself you do no have time to take action and  come to the studio to tape a segment that you can show to potential clients. I explained to the person who stated that they tried internet advertising before and it didn’t work for them that this is not advertising it is a TV Show with 48,000 viewers of which 77% are in your local area so you should take action and do the segment so you have something to help build credibility. To the man who said he did a show and didn’t see an increase in sales I didn’t even dignify with a response because if the segment is leveraged properly it will create responses and thus leave the guest in a position to close the deal.

It is when you create an idea then take action to implement the idea that you begin to see results. Continue reading Advertisement Ideas: Time To Take Action!!!!

Advertisement Ideas: WTH ARE YOU THINKING?

Today’s blog entry was inspired by a not so nice encounter I had with an ING Representative last week at The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Baby Love and Family Expo. Most of you who read this blog on a regular basis know that I always make an effort to be of value and service to all I come in contact with. On Saturday 8/10/13 I traveled to The Broward Convention Center for The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Baby Love and Family Expo to represent my Internet TV Show, The Anything Bucket, which airs on Wednesday at 8:00 PM EDT on www.wrpbitv.com. I was going booth to booth introducing myself and obtaining business cards as I have an awesome opportunity to help business people to maximize their message and increase their brand awareness and potentially increase their revenue. As I was standing next to The ING Booth a family was walking by with young kids and I said hello do you have your college planning taking care of see this gentleman from ING. What occurred next was totally unexpected, the gentleman instead of thanking me got real pompous and arrogant saying he didn’t need my help. He then proceeded to tell me that he ran The ING in Boca Raton, FL.  To which I stated you know Ralph Waldo Emerson said ” Nothing Great Was Ever Accomplished Without Enthusiasm.” His reply again was you don’t understand I run The ING Office in Boca Raton. To which I said can you say arrogant and then wished him Namaste and walked away. As I walked away I began to ask what the heck was this guy thinking?  His arrogance and pompous attitude cost him the opportunity to have me not only as a client but as an advocate for his business. In today’s marketplace it is imperative to understand that one day someone may be sharing a service with you but on another day they can be using your service.  Think about it what would 6 minutes on an Internet TV Show with over 50,000 viewers mean to you with 77% being in the local market, in this case Broward and Palm Beach County. I really felt like telling The ING Guy to go pound sand, however that would not have been to right way to handle him. The lesson here is to realize that everyone you come in contact with can be of service and value to you. Continue reading Advertisement Ideas: WTH ARE YOU THINKING???

Advertisement Ideas: Getting Past The Gatekeeper!!!

As a sales rep for La Bonita Kidz and Teenz, www.labonitakidz.com, I do a lot of cold calling on the phone and I run into many gatekeepers. The first thing I learned is to be polite and friendly regardless of the tone of the person answering the phone. The second thing to understand is that like you have a job to do and that is to sell them on your product or service they also have a job to do. The third thing is to be honest and let them know why you are calling. You may get the we’re not interested response, which is fine. I generally answer I know your not interested at this time, however can I email you information for future reference.  I have heard that person isn’t available. to this I will say no problem can I have their email address and can you put me through to their voice mail? Advertisement Ideas: The Importance Of Another Voice!!!

As I am determined to be of service and value to all those I come in contact with I am always amazed when someone isn’t open and receptive to ideas that can help their business to grow. Many times I find entrepreneurs that are so married to their business that they shut out outside ideas and thus do not grow as much as they could.  Sometimes the entrepreneur is set in his/her ways and thinks they know what is best for the business because they come from a position of fear and ego. The fear is often coming from the fact that they are afraid to take a financial risk or they think they are so big that they know more than the other voice.  The importance of listening to another voice is that voice may have something you didn’t think about. I recently had this happen when I made a suggestion to someone to approach the colleges in the area to find sales people for her project. her answer was I wouldn’t have thought of that. Just because someone may never have owned a business do not disqualify them as they may have been around business for a long time and helped those businesses to maximize their message.  I am often amazed by the lack of creativity shown by entrepreneurs and marketing directors and then I amazed that they wonder why business might be slow.

I walked in to my local Chase Branch to speak to the branch manager about La Bonita Kidz and Teenz(www.labonitakidz.com) and I gave her an idea to do a Dollars and Cents Column to educate the readers about saving and investment programs that are available. Her answer really floored me as she said “I don’t think we have anything like that.” This floored me because I would think a financial institution would have ready to print SEC approved materials so as to build their brand in the local market not only to create brand awareness but a feeling of trust amongst existing customers and potential new customers. She took the information and forwarded it on to the marketing department. Chase should have a strategic local marketing plan as any financial institution should have because what works in Tamarac, FL may not work in Jupiter, FL as the communities are demographically different.  This is why having an outsider that is not emotionally attached to the business is important as the outside person may help to develop programs that are instrumental in retaining existing clients/customers while attracting new customers.

I worked with Coach Shantel Springer on publicity and as a result she received media coverage thus giving her credibility and attracting new clients. She exemplified the idea of listening to another voice. Shantel walks her talk and invests in herself and as a result has been able to create a network of individuals to go to for assistance as she understands that everyone can be helpful in some way. Advertisement Ideas: How To Use Print Media Effectively!!!!

Advertisement Ideas: How To Use Print Media Effectively!!!

Many times as I present the opportunity to do advertising in a magazine like La Bonita Kidz and Teenz I will hear I don’t do print advertising or print advertising doesn’t work for me or print advertising is dying. These statements concern me as it shows me that business owners are missing out on what is still a viable way of communication. True the trend over the last 10 years has been to focus more on an internet/social media based campaign as more and more people are seeking information via the internet. However there will always be a segment of the population that turns to print media as they enjoy reading. The trend in the last 5 years has been for advertisers to find the niche newspapers and magazines that reach their desired target demographic and instead of using the shotgun approach to use the single bullet approach.

The first question you must ask is to use print media effectively is what is my target audience reading and what do they respond to. I am always surprised when a business owner tells me their target audience is everyone. This is a big fail because you are not going to appeal to everyone and when doing your strategic marketing plan you need to know who your most desirable client is and what they are reading. For example if you want to reach a 25-54 year old mother, earning 100K+ annually living in a 200K+ home you want to check out www.labonitakidz.com.  Knowing who your target audience is will help you use print media effectively.
