One key element to remember when doing public relations is that it is not a sometime thing it is an everytime thing. This means that everything you do in your business or with your non-profit should encompass some public relations aspect. There are many steps to navigate the public  relations maze:

1: Know the message you want to deliver- What is your objective in promoting and giving information?

For example if your purpose of your message is to drive more people to your web site you want to give people a reason to go to your website. For example you are giving away a free study about something in your industry that will help your current clients and potential clients thus announcing the give away in an enticing way and then capturing their email address you can build a list to send more valuable offers. You can also then send out media releases to your media list announcing how you are being of service and value to those you serve. Advertisement Ideas: Wake Up and Make It Happen

I was going to title this blog Wake The F Up America but wanting to keep the blog PG related I decided to title it Wake Up and Make It Happen. How many of you have called BS on the message to the right saying it can’t be done or it takes too  much money to make it happen, or I’ll never be able to do that? These negative beliefs are the beliefs that are stopping you from waking up ans making it happen. I am not here to tell you it is going to be easy because it takes some work and time. I am not here to blow smoke up your rear either and I am not going to pee on your shoes and tell you it is raining. I am here to tell you that with the right strategy and the right attitude and making the right connections you will make it happen. Let’s break down these 10 questions to help you to plan, implement, and evaluate the steps needed to take action to make it happen. I learned these in The Junior Chamber Of Commerce(Jaycees) and many have used them to become successful in their personal and professional life.

1: What is the primary purpose? This is a way to formulate your mission statement

2: What are the goals and objectives? This will help you see the big picture and to stay focused

3: What is The Manpower? This will help you to decide who you should seek to help

4:What Materials, Supplies, and Resources will be needed? This will help you in making your choices?

5: What Are The Potential Problems and Solutions? This will alleviate having to guess.

6: What is the Budget?- This will help in determining the cash outlay and pay back.

7: What are the steps necessary and the completion dates?  This will help you to stay focused

8: What revisions have you made to the original plan: tweaking the plan is always good practice

9: What Changes would you recommend for a similar project?

10: Give Specific and Measurable Results and a Summary of the project? Being able to give a summary  will help you to improve as you grow.

These questions were used to plan and implement and evaluate special projects that The Jaycees Ran. They translate into business as it lays out an opportunity to wake up and make it happen. It is when you have a road map to follow and adjust to that you are most successful. Continue reading Advertisement Ideas: Wake Up and Make It Happen

Advertisement Ideas: How To Be A Lifter and Lift Your Revenue

As I sat in The Catalyst Sermon tonight at  listening to Pastor Mike’s Wife, Eberly, speak about Fear and keeping the faith to be a lifter I began to think as business people what are we doing to be a lifter and what measures are we taking to lift our revenue. I then found the first way to be a lifter and lift your revenue. It is to overcome your fear. To do this ask yourself what am I fearful of and how will my faith conquer this false evidence appearing real.

In The Movie Coach Carter the message of overcoming fear is evident and the character is quoting from Marrianne Williamson’s Poem about Fear.

Overcoming Business Fears

The biggest fear I hear from entrepreneurs and the non-profit organizations that I work with is  the fear of not having enough money to build on their mission. To over come this fear one must understand that it is when you give and are of service and value that you get and the supply becomes greater. In your advertising make it a point to show how you are a giver to the community. Many people are caught up in the what ifs and never get beyond the limits where those who go for it and put themselves out there find they lift people up and as a result their revenue is lifted. A great example of this is Janine Hinds who steeped beyond her fear to share and sell her concept of  Focus on Community and Ladders to leaders and today is following her passion and meeting with success. To see more about Janine Hinds visit www.teenfocused.com.

Another fear I hear is not getting clients and thus not having steady cash flow. Many times it is not ours to question where the money will come from but to implement the ideas that Passion + Action + Success and watch clients become attracted to us and help us to grow.  A great example of this is Pastor Mike who overcame his Fears of failure and began Rocketown in Pompano Beach and now serves a population of teenager with a positive message and as a result is succeeding and garnering community support. You can learn more about Pastor Mike and his mission at www.rockettownfl.org. Continue reading Advertisement Ideas: How To Be a Lifter and Lift Your Revenue

Advertisement Ideas: I’ll Have a Hug and a Donut

This week there were two non traditional days celebrated that could have helped you to build your brand and increase your revenue one was on Friday, it was National Donut Day, the other was on Saturday, it was International Hug Day. I began to think how many businesses that rely on foot traffic knew of these two days and did anything to capitalize on them?  I came up with an idea that if these two days are close together in 2013 that you can sponsor a campaign I’ll Have a Hug and a Donut. It could be done very simply by advertising two-three weeks prior to these days that on a certain day to commemorate National Donut Day and International Hug Day that at you place of business the first 150 people to make a purchase will receive a free hug and a donut.
