Since a young age I have honed a gift that allows me to excel at sales. People ask me all the time JDOGG how do you continue to generate sales in any position that you have held? The answer is simple know your products and ask potential customers questions. I currently work as the memorabilia manager at Sinbad Sports located at 2164 S. University Drive in Davie, FL. I have told the General Manager and The Owner that if you bring me the people I can sell them the merchandise we have. Such was the case yesterday (7/9/2016) when I generated $633.51 in sales. I was fortunate that 2 customers came in and wanted some high ticketed items like the Odell Beckham Signed Football and a Jarvis Landry Signed Football. Others cam into browse and I was able to turn them from browsers into buyers simple by showing the items. There was one family that probably had no intention of buying anything but when I interacted with their child and showed her some of the toys we had the mom asked her what she wanted and she said the Hot Wheels Loop the mom asked me how much and I said $9.99 but I will give you a 25% discount. Guess what a sale was made. In working with the customer and showing them merchandise I was able to make sales. I didn’t reach my goal of selling $1000 but had one of the better Saturdays in the store since it opened on April 29, 2016. The key to having sales is driving traffic and giving the customer what they want and not getting upset if they leave without buying anything for a no today is not a no forever.
To increase sales you need to have strong brand awareness so that you will be on top of the consumers mind. Sometime to strengthen your brand you have to sacrifice profits so that in the long run you build repeat customers. On women came in yesterday for a Cleveland Cavaliers Championship Shirt as she had been in before and bought some and now another relative wanted one so she came to the store and bought it from me. On the way out the lady she was with saw The Cleveland Browns Signature Football and asked me how much and I said $35 but I will give you 25% off. She bought the football. The key is to being a selling machine is to enhance the customer experience and have them coming back. I had a successful day because people were finding the store or had been to the store before and came back to get more stuff. The key is to deliver great customer service.
In becoming a sales machine you must be prepared to market your business wherever you are and talk to people as you never know who will be that customer that puts you over your goal because you shared who you are and what you do with them. In the movie Glen Gary Glen Ross the sales people were taught always be closing. This is a mindset you should have if you are to increase your sales and to become a sales machine. As you continue to share who you are and what you do you will begin to attract buyers and as a result you will be met with success.
Remember to become a sales machine be of service and value in all you do as people like to do business with people they know, people they like, and people they trust. The more you can share and get to know people the better your chances to make a sale. Remember there is no cost to be kind.

Think of sales as a football game. If you want to win you have to have an excellent game plan and make adjustments on the way. I used to ask is their anything in particular you are looking for and I would be told no I am only browsing so I changed my game plan and I now ask what is your favorite team or what brings you to our store today as this avoids a yes or no answer and creates engagement. The more a customer is engaged the better your chance of selling them something. Such was the case when a gentleman came in looking for Steelers Merchandise and I showed him what we had and he made a purchase of several items and said he would be coming back for more things. Yesterday )7/9/16) I had someone who didn’t have the best experience the first time dealing with the store but after dealing with me said he will be back to do more business with us because of me. The lesson here is that when you give the customer what they are looking for and make them feel important you will become a selling machine.
Make sure that everything you do is designed to increase sales. When you place an advertisement make sure it has a call to action to drive your sales. When you speak to customers make sure you goal is to sell them something and to give them a great shopping experience. This week as you do business make increasing sales a priority.
