Charitable Giving Up Slightly But Still Ailing Years ago I initiated a fundraising campaign, Brother Can You Spare a Dime, the idea was to ask everyone I came in contact with for a dime that would be used to take underprivileged children on a holiday shopping spree. As I introduced the program I made up donation jars with that slogan and placed them in many businesses. Every business that participated in the program was recognized in all the marketing materials for The Spreading The Joy Program run by The Coral Springs Jaycees, which provided a holiday shopping spree to underprivileged children.  The donation jars were one part of the fundraising process we also solicited businesses to sponsor children and they received much publicity. The Jaycees also set up collection days in front of high trafficked retail stores publicizing those stores. As a result of businesses supporting this effort the businesses received publicity which put them on top of the consumers mind.

When you include your charitable giving in your advertising you show that you care about the community you increase the chance to procure new customers and retain existing customers as people like to do business with those they perceive to be giving back to the community.  In every business where I have had a management position or was the owner I always stressed the importance of charitable giving and how to leverage it to build a brand and increase cash flow. As a result I always saw an increase in business after I publicized my community involvement.

I announce for The South Florida Gold and they have helped several charities with donations at their games including Veteran’s Outreach, Homeless Shelters, Nature Centers, and The American Cancer Society. As a result of charitable giving and sparing several dimes The South Florida Gold has donated over $2000 to charitable causes and continue to strengthen their fan base by strengthening the community.

Lauderhill Broncos Youth Football & CheerTHE LAUDERHILL LIONS 135's ON THE PROWL The Lauderhill Broncos and The Lauderhill Lions hosted a Homecoming where I was The Announcer and I implemented The Shout Outs For The Cure program raising money for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton. As a result $235 was raised that day and  an article appeared in The Sun-Sentinel, which I can now use to show my commitment to the community. By using my platform to do a charitable giving campaign I have  been able to create brand awareness about me and the service I provide. People have  gotten to know me and recently I was awarded The S.A.K.E. Community Service Award, which gives me further edification as a community advocate. In using my involvement with Relay for Life and The Lauderhill Broncos I have been able to secure more paying gigs as an announcer, an emcee, a voice over talent, secure guest for my TV Show, and pick up clients as a Marketing and Media Relations Specialist. By being involved in the community  I am able to network and thus strengthen my brand while also increasing my cash flow.

Tijuana Flats DetailsThis is the best hamburger I've had in a long time." -Leo Pike I have had the privilege of setting up give back nights with these 3 entities through my volunteer work as The Fund The Mission Lead for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton. Each establishment that I worked with picked up business during the give back night and received publicity to all involved with The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton. Each establishment has gained a few new customers as a result  of their community involvement. If you are a service business the easiest way to do charitable giving is to do give backs where a percentage of your sales go t the charity. Think about it if you gave $.10 on every dollar brought in the publicity you would receive would be tremendous. You could then leverage your community involvement in all aspects of your marketing.

In 2010 I partnered with Sky Line Chili in Sunrise, Florida and hosted 7 Give Back Nights that brought in over $4,000 for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Sunrise, FL. As a result of this partnership Skyline Chili received shout out on my Radio Program and was featured in an article that appeared in The Sunrise Forum.

Charitable giving when leveraged effectively can be a great tool to help you create customer loyalty, brand awareness, and increased revenue. The Bottom line is the more you help and the more you promote that you are helping the more successful you will be in your business.

It doesn’t matter if you are a sole proprietor or  a CEO of a large corporation one thread that leads to success is charitable giving. So ask your self can I spare a dime and then ask others hey brother can you spare a dime. As you give you receive because a buzz is created  from your current customers to your potential customers. I personally do business with those businesses that have  supported my efforts with Relay For Life and I do my best to acknowledge them so my followers on social media will do business with them as well.
