... lzn Its Taco Tuesday at Tijuana Flats! Two tacos, chips and drink $4.99 This blog entry is inspired by my recent trip to Tijuana Flats in Lauderhill on Commercial Boulevard just west of University Drive for Tijuana Tuesday (Taco Tuesday). I placed my order and then realized I wanted sour cream and queso I offered to pay or it and the manager said don’t worry I’ve got that. I sat down and  waited for my order and as I waited one of the waitresses asked me JDOGG how are you doing as she remembered me from a past visit. I thought wow not only do they have good food at a reasonable price but their customer service is amazing. I have been going to Tijuana Flats for a few years now and have hosted a spirit night with their Central Boca Location for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton.  My experiences with everyone from the cashier to the server to the manager to the accounting department to the marketing director have been great. Tijuana Flats not only created a loyal customer they created an advocate for them in the community.  I have  often taught people in any business that when you focus on service and give value that you will find success.  Tijuana Flats focuses on being of service and value and supports the local communities where they are located. They also have a great foundation to help the less fortunate in The Just In Queso Foundation. In fostering an environment that focuses on service they continue to thrive and grow. Ask yourself how you are focusing on service.

starbucks.gif It could just be me because I frequent The Springtree Starbucks in Sunrise, FL several times a week but I have found their customer service to be fantastic every time I have visited. They have always been friendly and receptive to me. I am also pleased that they also support community events like Relay For Life and allow me to put up information about the event. They also allow me to put up my FREE Hugs Sign on occasion. In treating me nicely they have created a fan and an advocate.  In focusing on service they have created an incredible following and continue to thrive.

As many of the readers who read this blog on a regular basis know I am very involved with The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of West Boca Raton.  I approach many businesses each week to support our efforts to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Many businesses are very receptive and want to help but every once in a while you run into a business who doesn’t see the value and is very short-sighted about helping. In this case it was The Regal Shadowood 16 in Boca Raton. I went in to leave literature and see what I could do to be of service and value through Relay for Life. As a person with over 30 years of marketing experience I thought it would be easy. Boy was I surprised when I met the manager on duty he did not seem to understand what I was saying and told me he didn’t speak much English, this upset me as one of my pet peeves is you have a business in American speak English. Then after I told him who I was and what I was doing he said you have to call our corporate office. This also irked me because I do not have to do anything other than live free, pay taxes, and eventually die.  I called the corporate office and left a voice mail about a week later I heard back as their marketing person left me a voice mail saying that he didn’t think their was anything they could do as they didn’t give away passes or popcorn and had their own foundation.  With this action they lost me as a customer and are now being put in a bad light by being highlighted in a bad way.  Maybe they will realize that their lack of community service caused them to lose business and when their sales plummet and they close their doors that it wasn’t the economy it was their lack of service. Ask yourself how am I treating everyone who calls me or comes into my business and how is it having an impact on my business.

You can also contact us at our e-mail address: PizzaTime@ ...Do not call this number as this business is out of business.  I can only guess as to why for I know I did not have the most pleasurable experience with this business. In 2010 I walked into to ask if they could sponsor a pizza lap for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life Of Sunrise, FL. You would have thought I was asking to take over their business when I asked for 10 large pies ( 5 cheese and 5 pepperoni) to be donated. The GM said are you crazy you are asking me for $200 worth of product ( They were selling the pizzas for $19.99) I stated no I am asking you for about $50 worth of product as your cost is more likely $5.00 per pie.He asked how did I know and I answered because I have done my homework and researched the average costs of making a pizza before I ask for a donation. He said he wasn’t interested. I looked around and saw there weren’t many people in the restaurant and stated to bad because a donation to help this event could have brought more people to your restaurant. Well about 3 months later I went by and they were out of business. Ask your self when someone comes into your place of business how you can be of service and value to them because you never know how they can be of service and value to you. In this case this business missed out on my business and the people in my circle of influence’s business.
