Advertisement Ideas: Sell Your Why Not Your What!!!

finding-your-why.jpg As we begin to promote ourselves we need to make less of what we are promoting but why we are promoting it. Too  many times entrepreneurs and marketing executives get caught up in the what and forget the why. people don’t really care about the what they care more about the why you are doing things. When you engage potential clients/customers don’t tell them what you do tell them why you are doing it. A typical example in when I am asking people for donations for Relay for Life I always tell them why I am collecting using some of the programs that are funded when someone visits http://main.acsevents.org/goto/jdogg2 and makes a donation. I inform them of facts like we want to provide rides to and from treatments and doctor’s appointments for cancer patients through Road To Recovery  which provided 380,000 rides to and from medical appointments in 2013 that number is expected to increase by 10% for 2014.  The key is to let people know why you are doing something. In business it is when the customer/client buys into your why that you will have the most success with your business endeavors.  t caught up in the who we are and the what we do that we forget to share the why. I am asked why I do voice overs, pa announcing, emcee work, ,public speaking, marketing and public relations all the time and my answer because I want to help people enjoy life and excel at their life.  I ant to be a catalyst for positive change because when people are positive the world seems to improve and thus people no longer struggle and thus future generations look forward to a future.  It is when we find the why and we share it wherever and whenever we can that we find success. Take a look at where you are and how sharing your why may improve that status.  When you have a purpose behind your business and the things you do and you share it with others you business improves.

I am asked all the time JDOGG why should I appear on your TV Show? I answer because the more people who know who you are, what you do, and why you do it the more successful you can be.  My TV Show, The Anything Bucket, airs on Tuesday at 6;30 PM EST on www.wrpbitv.com. My why for doing the TV Show is that I want to positively impact lives and you never know which viewers will be motivated or transformed  through a segment.  When you can answer the question  why and share your why you will find that your brand is strengthened and as a result your cash flow is improved.

Find Your Why: Step #1 for building a better blog community The easiest way to sell your  why is to engage people. Don’t be afraid to simply introduce yourself to someone as you never know who you may meet. The worst thing that will happen is that they look at you a bit strange and don’t engage back. The key is to get over the fear of what people will think of you and to be comfortable and confident that your why will be more powerful than their thoughts. Some people will be open to receive while others will simple back off. This goes with the territory. Today 12/7 I am at my local Starbucks collecting donations for The American Cancer Society Relay For Life I have positioned myself by the area where people pick up their drinks. I have hung up a sign and when I make eye contact with the patron I am doing my best to engage them with me and sharing the why I am here today at Starbucks.  I am telling them that I am collecting money to help cancer patients and sharing information like we have The National Cancer Information Center at 1-800-acs-2345 that last year fielded 1,000,000 requests for cancer information and a s a result helped many cancer patients and their families. I am also handing out my business cards so as to direct them to their local relay to get them informed and involved.

The more places you can share your why the better your chances for increasing brand awareness and cash flow. In  selling your why you will obtain followers who resonate with you why and thus will want to work with you.  The key is to put yourself out there and let people know your why. So this week get out and start to talk to people and start sharing your why.
