In marketing sometimes you have to use the direct approach and be like the street-walker who searches for her clients by putting herself out there. I am not saying to use sex to sell, I am saying  use a direct approach to find clients/customers. Many years ago I introduced a philosophy of The 3 Foot Rule, where if someone is with in 3 feet of you talk to them and see if they may be of service and value to you and if you will be able to be of service and value to you. Like the street-walker you must have your package and your price structure in place. The street-walker displays her wares openly  and draws attention to her self. This leads me to the question as to how are you directly marketing yourself.

I use  street walking as a marketing strategy by always having my business cards with me as you never know when an opportunity to network and share who you are and what you do with others will arise. In talking directly to people you open up new opportunities to cultivate clients/customers. In being sales oriented and always closing you begin to build brand recognition while also creating a buzz about who you are and what you do and why people should be doing business with you.  Like the street-walker who is constantly show herself off you should be in the market place showing yourself off. Though a street-walker may have many one time clients/customers she may also have steady clients/customers. The key is to attract steady customers by delivering excellent service and giving added value.  The question to ask is how am I going to keep people coming back?

Many street walkers have a marketing strategy to increase their business.  They are now using avenues like social media, Craig’s List,  and Back Page. Many even have their own websites. While I do not condone the practices of street walkers I have observed that their practices in the marketing arena works.  Think about it they scout a location, they directly approach their clients/customers, they offer something that is in demand, and they get to be known in the marketplace. Using the practices of street walking as a marketing strategy  can be effective as you grab your clients/customers, keep your customers/clients, and you leave your customers/clients wanting more.  The key is to put yourself out there and  find ways to follow-up.

An important component to using street walking as a marketing strategy is to have an effective marketing campaign. The idea is draw attention to your products or services. Entice the client/customer with an outstanding offer, once they commit to doing business with you deliver what you promised, follow-up, and continue to engage the client/customer so they come back and continue to do business with you.

In using street walking as a marketing strategy you want to stand out and be memorable so people will remember you when they desire your products and services. In standing out and subtly getting in people’s face you will begin to attract new clients/customers as more people will know about who you are and what you do.

If you are a frequent reader of this blog, a listener to my radio show, Get Motivated With Jonathan JDOGG Lederman, which airs on Monday Night at 6 PM EDT on www.blogtalkradio.com/hrafnstongradio, or one of my Facebook followers you know I hang at Starbucks on many occasions. Today I was at a Starbucks in Hollywood, FL and a gentleman next to me mentioned video production. As I always have my antenna up and have my business cards at the ready I asked what business he was in. he stated he and his colleague work at an advertising agency. I gave  them my card and explained I did voice overs and hosted my own TV Show, The Anything Bucket, which airs on www.wrpbitv.com on Tuesday at 6:30 PM EDT.  They were receptive and asked me if they could put me on their contact list I said yes. By using the street walking technique I was able to make a contact that could lead to business.

I am also a big proponent of  networking. This is really a great way to use street walking as a marketing strategy as you can connect directly with potential clients/customers and begin to build a business relationship. Networking is simple learn about the person you are speaking with and then see how you can be of service and value to them. Stay Positive!!!
